Serie Club (serie.club) is a free, non-commercial website to discover
and keep track of TV series. This policy explains what data it handles and how.
Summary
- An account is needed to use My series, For you and alerts. We only ask for a username, a password and a nickname: no real name and no personal data.
- The rest of the website (home, search, series pages) works without an account.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies. If you arrive through a link with
?de=… (for example, one we shared on social media), we add 1 to a counter for that site to know which promotion works: it is just a number per site and day, and nothing about you is stored.
- We don't sell or share your data with anyone for their own purposes.
Cookies
We only use technical cookies the website needs to work (which is why there is no cookie banner):
sc_region and sc_lang: your country and language.
sc_session: keeps you signed in for up to 180 days. It is deleted when you sign out.
Your account
If you create an account, we store on our server:
- Your username, nickname, country and language.
- Your password and recovery code, never in plain text: only an encrypted fingerprint (hash) they can't be recovered from.
- The list of series you follow, with their public TMDB data (title, seasons, next air date…).
- The 1–10 ratings you give to series. If you only rate, nobody sees your rating on its own: it only counts towards the average of all users (the “Serie Club rating”).
- The reviews you write (optional). They are published on the series page together with your rating, nickname and username. You can edit or delete them at any time.
- If you report a review, we store which review you reported, so each person counts only once. It is deleted once the review has been checked.
- If an account is silenced for breaking the rules, we keep its email on a block list so it can't publish reviews again with another account.
- Your open sessions (an encrypted fingerprint of each one and its expiry date).
- To stop password-guessing attacks, we log sign-in attempts and the IP address they come from for 24 hours.
Purpose: so your series stay saved and you can use them from any device.
Legal basis: providing the service you ask for when you create the account.
Retention: as long as you keep the account. You can delete it any time from Profile → Delete my account, and all its data (series, alerts and sessions) is erased immediately.
Release alerts (optional)
If you turn on alerts for new episodes and seasons, we also store:
- If you choose device alerts: the technical push subscription address your browser creates to receive notifications (one per device). It is deleted when you turn it off or sign out on that device.
- If you choose email alerts: your email address. We only start emailing you after you confirm it through the link we send. Once confirmed, you can also use it to recover your password and to write reviews (a confirmed email is required; it is never shown to anyone).
- A log of sent alerts, to avoid duplicates, deleted after 90 days.
Purpose: only to send you those alerts (and, if you ask, the link to change your password). We will never send you advertising or any other kind of message.
Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Retention: while the alert is on. You can turn it off in Alerts or with the “Unsubscribe” link in any email; your address is deleted right away. An email that isn't confirmed within 30 days is deleted too.
Services we use
- The Movie Database (TMDB): source of series data. It only receives the series ID or your search text, never your personal data.
- Vercel: hosts the website.
- Supabase: database where accounts, series and alerts are stored.
- Resend: sends alert emails.
- YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode): only if you press “Watch trailer”, the video loads from YouTube. Until then the site doesn't connect to YouTube.
- Your browser's push service (Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft, depending on your browser) delivers notifications to your device.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, under the safeguards required
by the GDPR (such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses).
Your rights
You can request access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction or portability of your data by
emailing serieclub.official@gmail.com. You can also
file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
Mobile app
The Serie Club app (in development) keeps your region, language, “My series” and reminders only on your
phone, without sending them to any server.
Children
Serie Club is not directed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect data from minors.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date.
